July 1, 2010. The CRRRTC will be holding the annual Canada Day Poker run. We will be leaving the Cochrane Ranche area at 9:00am sharp with a roughly 2.5km circuit around Cochrane. Entry is a food donation to the Food bank. Hopefully we will see you out.
Sports psychologist John Clubb is running a specialist clinic for those runners who are just starting out. Running clinics will run for 90 minutes and include: weekly group run, personalized weekly training program, seminars on training, nutrition, psychology and injury prevention. [Find out more]
As part of the Health, Fitness, and Sport Expo, Martin will be doing multiple laps of a 2.5km route accomplied by local fitness guru Peter Estabrooks. The run will be on June 19 from the SW community of Silverado (SW corner of Macleod trail and Highway 22) [Please see poster]

Here is the registration form for the January - May/June swim sessions. To make this a viable program, we must have a minimum of 12 people signed up per swim (think Coaches Fees, Pool Fees). I expect this session to be very popular so get your forms filled out and your money into us asap. The WanaBonka 100k++ Ultra that was held from Sept. 25-27. It went from Waiparous through the Devil's Gap, along Lake Minnewanka, into Banff and then behind Mt. We used to do this kind of thing regularly but got away from it for some reason. These generally dealt with some aspect of the tri sports, or nutrition, etc. We are planning one or two for the Spring and, yes, more to come!
This 5km fun run is to fundraise for an organization called Free The Children. It is the largest non profit organization of kids helping kids through establishing education in places where there is little to no education available. The money that is raised will go directly to the neediest community in rural Ecuador. This fundraiser is being organized by Beki Roth.

Pool/ Boys and Girls club parking lot will be the start and finish area.
Cost: Minimum $5 donation plus a food bank item to be donated to the Cochrane Food Bank.

The CRRR&TC puts on a little event each year - called the Poker Run.
The idea? - run/walk/stroll a little 3K loop, picking up playing cards along the way and then presenting your Poker Hand at the 'finish line'. The best Poker Hand wins in each of two categories - Family/Group (the group pools their cards to create the best hand) or Individual.
- No fee...other than a donation to the foodbank
- No fuss...just show up, put down your name as a 'Family' or 'individual'
- No timing...just take off, collect your cards and come back ot the 'Finish Line'
Date: July 1st - Canada Day!
Time: 9am till about 10am
Place: The Ranch...just West of the Visitor's Centre...toward the lovely new bridge over Big Hill Springs. Look for the flags and running club banner.

Lifestyles Health & Fitness Centre is teaming up with Edge Sports for the inaugural 5x5km Race Series happening every Thursday night starting May 7th for 5 consecutive weeks. This is a way for all runners to improve not only their 5km race distance, but also to practice pacing and get some tempos into their training. The distance is short and recovery will be minimal which is why we are able to do this weekly.

This year's Annual General Meeting is set for Friday, February 20th at 7:00 pm at the Tin Cup Cafe (Cochrane golf club for you non-golfing type). It will be a "Whine and Cheeze" event followed by the ever anticipated SHORT Annual General Meeting and associated fun and frivolity (a.k.a. Reports). We will provide some snacks and beverages.

The bus will be leaving the Spray Lakes Sports centre at 5:00pm for the Tech Shop and will be due to leave the Tech Shop for Cochrane at 8:00pm. The more the merrier.
We are going to try something alittle different for the Saturday runs. We are going to raffle off a $15.00 Guys Cash Card. The draw is open to all Red Rock Runners there. The draw will happen at approximately 10:30 to 10:45am. If anyone is planning on a long run enter before you go out. The cost is $1.00 per name. The Racing Season is upon us with people traveling near and far to compete. San Diego, Ottawa, Vulcan, Winnipeg, Cochrane, Wasa (BC), Great White North Triathlon and the Calgary Marathon. Congrats to all on their participation in their event of choice.
We are running (not a pun in sight!) a bus to and from the event....free to members and we will need to know how many are interested in using this free ride. In addition, if we register as a group, each member of each 10 person team will get a $5 discount on their registration!! I've received a few responses but not quite there on the first 10 people required in order to get the discount.
